Kate Smurthwaite brought my attention to the new Police advertising campaign telling women this Christmas to have fun, but not too much fun, or else they’ll get raped. The West Midlands Police seem to have managed to make an awful campaign even worse, with the sort of patronising design you find in awareness posters aimed at school children. The font is disconcertingly close to Comic Sans, the colours are reminiscent of sweet wrappers, and you half expect a warning about the dangers of putting sparklers in your mouth. It’s a series of warnings akin to the Green Cross Code. Look left, look right, look left again, or you’ll get run over. Only here it’s watch your drink, stay in a group, book a taxi, or you’ll get raped. The difference being that the conviction rate for death by dangerous driving is 85.1%, whereas for rape it’s 5.3%.

Maybe it’s just me but this entire campaign is being blown way out of proportion. Nowhere on these posters, or the page, does it say that if you don’t watch your drink, have friends, and/or book a taxi - you’ll get raped. It’s simply reminding women to be safe…and have common sense. Don’t let some stranger watch your drink, easier for them or someone else to spike it. Having friends around assures that there is someone else that’s got your back in case anything happens. Booking a taxi makes you sure get home in one piece and don’t have some random person taking you home. I haven’t seen the childrens’ posters, but I’m pretty sure they don’t say someone will get hit by a car. Judging from these three posters, the childrens’ one more than likely is reminding them to pay attention when they cross a street, instead of just jetting out. Many a child has died that way, just like many a woman has been raped because she was inattentive.
This is one of those times where I don’t understand the logic of women. People are trying to remind you to stay safe, and you’re all in a huff about it. But when no one gives a damn what  happens to you because you’re oh-so-invincible, you scream for days. Unstable and indecisive ass creatures.
P.S. - I don’t mean you personally, but this has been on my dash with quite a few opposing arguments (all made by women).

I’m not one for Tumblr wars, so I’ll just point out that I, the original poster, am male, and let the rest of you make what you will of this little gem.
