»New defeat over homophobia laws | BBC NEWS
The government has suffered another defeat in the Lords over a so-called “free speech” defence to a new law on homophobic hatred.
Peers voted by 179 to 135 to keep the defence - despite justice minister Lord Bach pointing out MPs had voted to overturn it on four occasions.
Rest of the world: did you know we in the UK have an entire parliamentary chamber full of unelected douchebags comprising of hereditary peers, people who made lots of money, people who gave lots of their money to the right people, people who did the right favours for the right people, and some fucking bishops who get to come and go as they please and exercise a veto over the legislation that our elected officials just passed? Did you also know that it’s still (for a little while longer at least) absolutely legal for them to be employed as lobbyists for whoever wants to pay them? That’s right, we don’t bother with middlemen here. Our legislators are lobbyists and our lobbyists are legislators and they’ve not a single vote between them!
Moat maintenance is among the least of our fucking problems.
